Free bus travel for those impaired with a disability

As from the 1st August, people unable to drive a vehicle because of their disability (including epilepsy and other hidden conditions) will be given access to free bus travel in and around Hamilton, and to Morrinsville/Paeroa, Cambridge, Raglan and Te Awamutu.

Any person temporarily impaired with a disability will be given free bus travel if their condition lasts longer than 6 months.

For those of you who all ready hold a Total Mobility Access card you will be able apply for the Bus IT Mobility Concession card at the Hamilton Transport Centre, at your local designated disability agency (such as Life Unlimited or CCS Disability) or through your GP.

EWCT will become another designated assessment agency for both the Total Mobility card and the Bus It Mobility Concession card in the very near future, if you have epilepsy.

The cards will become your photo ID for the total mobility scheme and cannot be shared with others. Unfortunately, at this stage, carers of people with the disability are not eligible for the card.

This is great news. Imagine exploring Hamilton and visiting your immediate region free using your bus card? It could open up your world.”
