Epilepsy Articles – March 2019

EWCT brings you the latest news on epilepsy-related articles

  1. EWCT is holding an information night on “Ketogenic Diet Therapies in Adults with Epilepsy”. All are welcome.

  2. Despite a wide array of anti-epileptic drugs and the option of surgery, one-third of children and adults with epilepsy continue to suffer from drug-resistant seizures. Many of these patients may benefit from a ketogenic diet, a non-pharmacologic therapy proven to improve seizure control in epilepsy. To read more about the ketogenic see our ketogenic diet page.

  3. Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing epilepsy awareness worldwide. On March 26th annually, people in countries around the world are invited to wear purple and to host events in support of epilepsy awareness. The founder of ‘Purple Day’, Cassidy Megan said, “I wanted people around the world to come together and teach others about epilepsy”.

EWCT invites you to host your own “Purple Day” event in order to promote epilepsy awareness. Become an epilepsy ambassador for the day and show that epilepsy does not define you as a person.

If you wish to make a donation to our epilepsy charity, that would be much appreciated too. All online donations can be made here:

  4. Did you know that there are at least 40 different seizure types and that not all seizures look the same? As epilepsy can affect people in different ways, everyone’s experience of living with the condition is different. Please take a look at our interactive poster here. We believe that it is the first of its kind in the world.
